Training & Development

Lindsay & Gilmour, in partnership with our training providers Buttercups, have recently introduced an industry leading ‘Fast Track’ training programme, which provides the opportunity for us to recruit candidates who may have no pharmacy or health care specific experience but have demonstrated directly transferrable skills such as excellent customer service, empathy, good listening and communication. These candidates are then given the opportunity to complete our Healthcare Assistant Course in just six months. This shortened timeframe, compared to the 12 – 18 months normally required for those simultaneously working in a pharmacy setting is made possible by removing the trainees from the staffing profile of that branch so they can focus solely on their training.
Then those trainees who successfully complete the Fast Track Training Programme will be enrolled in the Technician training programme, requiring a further 2 year commitment. On completing of this stage, they will then become a registered Technician.

Throughout all stages of the Fast Track programme, learners are allocated a protected study time of half a day per week, to ensure that the trainees have the best possible chance of achieving the required learning results for the benefit of their professional development.
All those enrolled on the Fast Track programme remain supernumerary to the branch staff profile in order to ensure they can be entirely focussed on their training schedule.

Ongoing support throughout your career

Lindsay & Gilmour is committed to the ongoing support and development of all our employees. By adopting a programme of regular one-to-one meetings between employees and their line managers, we encourage regular short conversations which look at five separate areas of staff development. These include their job satisfaction, what their strengths and talents are, any opportunities for growth or areas of learning and development and finally their suggestions for business improvement.

Combined, with a shared and transparent set of company-wide objectives, this ensures that we work together as a team for the shared goal of being the No. 1 Pharmacy of choice for both patients and staff.
